About Ultrasonics
Electronic products have been developed specifically to help solve the growing number of problems we have with intrusive insects, rodents and mammals. Generally, people with normal hearing can't hear higher level ultrasonic noise but animals can. Deterrents that use sonic frequencies are designed for use when people are not around (ie nighttime in a factory, shop or warehouse). These types of pest repeller units are not harmful to people or animals, but they are designed to be uncomfortable to be near.
Practical Tips
Repelling any pest, whether an insect, cat or bird is sometimes very easy and sometimes very difficult. For instance, if a rodent has just built a nest, has new-born young, has an excellent source of food and water nearby, or if the weather has recently turned very wet or very cold, it can take time, patience and an ongoing commitment to get them out. Sometimes it takes one device, other times more than one device is necessary. The position and height of the device may also need to be varied.
Be like an army commander. Think tactics. Consider the access points where the intrusion occurs and to what extent the pest has an alternative place to go. If necessary, vary the position or settings (if there are any) on the device.
Remember that the performances of our products expressed in operational ranges are comparative guides only as true performance will depend on the variables on-site such as size of area, back ground noise and above all, sensitivity of the target pest.
Sometimes, if a pest situation is particularly difficult more than one product may be required. Sometimes, more than one type of deterrent may be required acting in synergy. With dogs, remember that the hearing of an old dog is not as sharp as a young animal. With cats, they are less likely to be scared if there are groups of 3 or more. Finally, ultrasonic sound is somewhat blocked by solid objects like walls but solid or hard surfaces reflect and bounce sound.
